Carribbean poker game is played on a semi-circular table with a 52 card deck in most casinos. The rules for the Carribbean stud poker are lot similar to the five card stud. Essentially Carribbean stud poker is a variant of the five card stud. The difference lies in that the game is played against the dealer and not against the other players.
There will be three to five players facing the dealer. The aim of this game is to beat the dealer with the five cards you get dealt with.
Ante and Dealing:
- All players make their ante.
- Each player in the table is dealt with five cards face down.
- The dealer is also dealt with 5 cards, but one of the cards will be face up.
Betting Process:
- After looking in to the value of the 5 cards, the players decide on whether to make a raise or not.
- If the players are not ready to make a raise, they must fold.
- The raise should be twice the sum of the ante they make. The raise is fixed and it is twice the ante and nothing more.
- After all the players make their action to fold or raise the dealer shows the other 4 cards in his hand.
- The dealer should qualify to beat the other players in the table.
- The minimum qualification for the dealer to qualify is to have an Ace-King.
Winning Qualifications
- If the dealer does not qualify, the players will get back their antes and raises.
- If the dealer is going to qualify, it will be considered as a push and there will be a tie.
- If the qualifying hand of the dealer wins, then the player loses his ante and his raises.
- In cases where the dealer does not have the Ace or King, then the dealer's hand is compared to the player's hand.
- If the dealer qualifies but does not win, then the players will get even money on their ante bet and the raise will be paid with reference to the pay tables of the casino.
The basic logic is to bet when you have a pair or better with you or bet when you have an Ace or King or when your have a cards of same value as the dealer's card.
When you don't "call" you "surrender" which means you forfeit your claim in the pot henceforth.
